A Chinese firm, Easy Prefabricated Homes, a subsidiary of Henan D.R. Construction Group Co. Ltd., has finalized a model home for the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP). The housing unit cost nearly Rs. 4 million, has been constructed in Faisalabad’s Small Industrial State in just over a month. The 5-marla unit is built with easy-to-assemble fiber sheets and costs around Rs. 3.2 million to 3.5 million.

Mr. Tony, the company’s architect, said that the model unit’s cost is a little higher as some of the material has been imported from China. However, once it receives permission to mass-manufacture these homes, the company plans to produce all raw materials within Pakistan. The housing unit, he claims, has a total covered area of 1732 square feet, with four large bedrooms, a kitchen, a TV lounge, and a gallery. It has tiled floors and cement boards were used to build the exterior walls, and gypsum board was used to build the inner walls.

The most notable feature of this modern design building is that it lowers the internal temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the fiber sheets are waterproof, fireproof, and can withstand earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 7.2. These structures have a 50-year lifetime.
