Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reportedly sealed the head position of one of the best telecom operators, Jazz in Pakistan. Office sealed due to unpaid tax amounting to PKR 25 billion. That is a very large quantity even for a telco. The Head office placed in F-8 Islamabad sealed today over non-payment. The application to seal the bases given below the income tax law 2001 with Part 48 of the Sales Tax Act. The sealing premises came as a shock to many as this never occurred before with an organization of such scale. The agreement on the non-payment being negotiated so the sealing was a shock for Jazz as a whole.
Jazz has also stated in reply to the office sealed:
Jazz is a law-abiding & responsible corporate citizen. Our offering to Pakistan’s business over the past 25 years is important. We have got a report from FBR this evening. Jazz has given tax obedience based on legal descriptions of the tax owed. We will evaluate and take actions under our legal duties and will cooperate with all concerned organizations for the immediate purpose of this problem.
