Pakistan Army officially confirmed the addition of state-of-the-art third-generation Main Battle Tank VT-4 to its defense weaponry. The Chinese-origin Battle Tank is one of its kind armored fighting vehicles.
On Tuesday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Field Firing Ranges to corroborate the performance of Main Battle Tank VT-4, as per the official statement of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
After the demonstration, COAS General Qamar Bajwa expressed his contentment with the officers, about the performance of VT-4.
With the addition of VT-4 Battle Tank in its weaponry, Pakistan Army has made its defensive capabilities stronger. Pakistan Army is not only aware of the nascent regional threats but also concentrating on the internal challenges.
Along with the newly added armored fighting vehicle VT-4, Pakistan Army has added the upgraded version of Main Battle Tank Al Khalid-I (which is a locally developed battle tank) as well.
Specifications of VT-4:
VT-4 is a 10.10-meter-long battle tank with a total weight of around 52 tons and a gun forward. Its height and width are 2.30 and 3.40 respectively. A VT-4 tank can accommodate 3 crew members with the top speed of 70Km/h and an operational range of 500Km.
Talking about the weaponry, VT-4 contains a 125mm smooth-bore cannon with the ability to fire APFSDS, HEAT, HESH, HE rounds, and guided missiles. On its turret, a remote weapon station is placed, equipped with a 12.7mm heavy machine-gun.
It has a fire control system with hunter-killer capabilities. Moreover, it is equipped with a laser rangefinder, a 3rd generation thermal imaging system, and panoramic sight.
VT-4 has an explosive reactive armor, defensive grenade launchers, laser warning device, and a GL5 active protection system for protective concerns. Along-with all the aforementioned specifications, it has NBC protection, explosion suppression, IFF, Air Conditioning, and fire extinguishing system as well.
