The inauguration session of Pakistan’s first advisory committee for Cryptocurrency and Cryptomining will be held to “monitor and discuss appropriate measures to regulate and legalize, and necessary legislation” according to Ziaullah Bangash, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s science and technology advisor.
He also expressed gratitude to members of the provincial assembly who were influential in voicing their opinions in support of the initiative and expressed his hope that they will continue to do so. The meeting will be held on Wednesday at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technology Board, according to the advisor’s notification, and members will be able to attend both online and in person.
Waqar Zaka, a former VJ turned social media influencer and a prominent crypto/blockchain supporter asserted in a Facebook post shortly after the news that he persuaded the government to establish the newly formed committee. In the early days of his request to legalize cryptocurrency, he said that his friends advised him to “Make your own profit and abandon Pakistan” rather than getting into trouble. He also claimed that he was the only crypto trader who filed suit to challenge the FIA.
He went on to say that Zia Ullah Bangash was the only member of the government who acknowledged Waqar’s crypto vision and agreed to form a Crypto Advisory Committee.
